Ovipositor is a rock band from Oakland, California. Colin Frangos plays the guitar and does most of the singing. Mark Pino plays the drums and does some of the singing. Max Sidman plays the bass.

We’ve been compared to Pere Ubu, The Fall, MX-80, and Mission of Burma, amongst others. We’ve been called punk, although who really knows what that means anymore? And anyway I don't remember the summer of punk because I was too busy playing with my GI Joe.

We have an album called CEASE THE DAY! and another one called Pirate Flag at Half-Mast.

We are not pretty, we are not young, we are not sexy, we are not charismatic, we are not hip, we are not your friends. Please enjoy the music.

What the press are saying:

What the people are saying:

Here's what the SF Bay Guardian has to say about our show at Balazo 18 on August 11th: "The band Ovipositor doesn't ooze or drip anything." [more]

August 12th, The Stork Club:

for the end of this show, we did 3 songs with Tom Herman, the legendary guitarist from Pere Ubu and Tripod Jimmie. Here's the Tripod Jimmie classic, Autumn Leaves.

Getting to do things like this makes life worth living.

DEC 19, Annie's Social Club:

You missed this show. Luckily, you can watch some of the fun here, courtesy of Pacific Noise, who are great and should be thanked by everyone who likes music. We are marvellously inarticulate when the cameras are rolling, and they did a fine job editing us to seem cogent. Thanks guys!
